While exploring the tiny gold town of Volcano, I found this beautiful
Virginia creeper vine glowing with fall color. I inserted it into the
previously boring background of my little bird. Then I ramped up
the color even more by layering on vibrant Prismacolor pencil. This
really made the color sing!
Even at 6" x 8", this tiny painting is almost twice the life size of this
little bird. Called a "bush tit", it travels in cheerful troupes that call to
each other as they explore brushy woodlands. They are very happy
to use the birdbath even in the chilliest weather, usually in the very
early morning here.
