"This is a self-portrait, of sorts.  When I
decided that I needed to learn how to paint
portraits, I looked for a way to paint a face I
knew without offending the subject.  I mean, what
if I forgot the NOSE or something!?  I was
browsing through an old box of slides, when I
found several taken of my brother and me.  I loved
this slide of me as a two year old.  It showed a
strong shadow pattern on my face, and my love
for my family shines in my eyes!  I liked the way
the reflected light shows in the warm colors.  And
my colored pencils added needed textures to the
sweater."
