meditation

This painting was inspired by a painting
trip that I made with a group of artists to the Hostel at
Montara Lighthouse. Montara is about five miles north of
Half Moon Bay in California. It was late January and the
stormiest weather I have ever seen. Waves were breaking
over the road in some places.
There were a few calm hours when the sun peeked out,
and I took a good long walk, and ended up at this small
beach.
The ocean soothed me and helped me put things into
perspective, and I made some life changing
decisions that day.

I loved the way the colored pencil helped to create
movement in this painting, and the textures
on the rocks. I can almost smell the salt air.
