This little painting is the result of all of the effort that goes into planting my tulip baskets every fall. The delicate colors blend through each petal, catching the light, making the flower glow. To paint a tulip, I wet each petal separately, stroking in the warm and cool hues, letting the colors blend together at the edges. Then I lick in a few strokes of highlights with my colored pencil, and you can almost feel the waxy, smooth textures. |
