| "Sun Worshipper" 12" x 12", watercolor and Prismacolor pencils |
| "This little painting is about the contrast of colors in Nature. A vibrant blue hue saturates the sky behind the sunflower. Textures were added with the Prismacolor pencils to suggest the patterns of seeds on the face. The seed head is just filling in, plumping up with the promise of delicious, rich seeds! Sunflowers are so easy to grow in the garden. Their requirements are few: Sunshine, regular water, and a little compost! Their lovely faces follow the sun as it travels across the sky, from East to West. They are truly sun worshippers. In my Fiddletown garden, I am visited by hundreds of little birds. Some are just passing through, on their way to unknown places. Some kinds stay for the entire season, visiting my bird feeders daily to supplement their diet. I offer a variety of seeds and nuts, but their favorites are always the sunflower seeds!" |
