| "I loved these sunny yellows, and cool greens and blues. It is a challenge to paint with yellows, because the pigments blend so easily with others, making shadow colors the hardest to capture. In the Gold Country, daffodils bloom everywhere! They are found on almost every homestead. Daffodils are cheery harbingers of spring, opening when soil temperatures begin to warm. In March, I like to visit Daffodil Hill, a place up in Volcano, where 400,000 bulbs of every variety blossom from March 15th, through mid-April. On a sunny day, the colors sparkle with brilliance, lifting the spirits, reminding us that every winter is followed by rebirth and renewal." |
